The Walking Dead’s Daryl Dixon is a fan favorite. His redneck charm and toughness has endeared himself to an ever growing fan base. On a show where a character can die at any time, it’s hard to get too attached to any character on the show. However, following Daryl Dixon could be the safest pick of them all.
In a recent interview on Sundance, creator Robert Kirkman talked about his love for Mr. Reedus:
“Daryl Dixon is my favorite element of the television show. And when we saw Norman Reedus, all of the producers kind of got together, and we were like, ‘We love this guy. We’ve got to get him in the show somehow.,’ and so suddenly, Merle had a brother named Daryl.”
It’s gotta be one heck of an audition for a show to create a character because they loved your performance so much. The dynamic between the Dixon brothers has been one of the most interesting parts of the show’s previous seasons.
Here is the entire interview for those who are interested to hear it. Kirkman discusses much more than just his love for Daryl in this clip:
It kind of makes you wonder what the show would be like without Daryl Dixon. Would Merle have taken his place in Rick’s group? Or would we have seen a different character like Dale or T-Dog survive up to this point? And would the show be as popular without Daryl?
One thing is for certain, the show wouldn’t be the same without Daryl Dixon.
