Recently, I had the chance to talk with Amber Dawn Fox about her time on The Walking Dead.  On the show, she played Officer Bello at Grady Memorial Hospital during the fifth season.  The lovely and talented Amber Dawn Fox spoke with Undead Walking about keeping secrets, some of the fun things that happened on the set and her upcoming projects.  Here is what she had to say:

How much did you know about The Walking Dead before being cast on the show?  Were you an avid reader of the comics or watcher of the hit AMC television show?

"I did know quite a bit about The Walking Dead before being cast on the show. I was (and am) a huge fan of the TV show. I have not read the comics, but that is something I still want to do. Going from a fan of the show, to being offered a role, was a dream come true for sure."

What was it like working with the cast and crew of The Walking Dead?  Do you have any great stories from the set?

"Working with the cast and crew of The Walking Dead was amazing! Everyone I worked with was very friendly and down to earth. There are so many great stories from being on that set. I was reminded of one last night actually, when Jarod (who played Officer Tanaka) tweeted about it.  In between takes, some of the officers, Emily Kinney, and Melissa McBride were making shadow puppets. It was actually quite fun!"

How difficult was it to keep the secret about Beth’s death and the intensity of that scene when everyone wants spoilers about The Walking Dead?

"It was a very hard secret to keep! That scene was so intense and such a huge part of the mid season finale.  A lot of people did want to know if I knew any “spoilers”. It was hard knowing that was going to happen. The hardest person it was to keep it from was my husband, he is a big fan of the show as well."

What does it feel like to be a part of the The Walking Dead Family?  Did you expect the response from the fan base to be so warm?

"The Walking Dead family is the best family to be a part of!  I knew that being on the show would bring me a bit of attention, but not on the huge scale that it has. I am still in a bit of shock over how friendly the fans have been and how they have spread the word so much about me and my future projects. I love the fans, they are making this whole experience that much more memorable.  They have been amazing."

You have been in many popular shows and have a role in the upcoming tv movie “Realm”.  Can you tell us a little about that and your role in the project?

"“Realm” will actually be a TV series.  We will start shooting the pilot episode for that at the beginning of April.  It will be a supernatural drama with several different story lines.  I will be playing Agnes, a witch from the immortal realm who goes from being an orphan to taking pleasure in controlling those weaker than her. It will be a lot of fun and it will be shooting here in North Carolina."

Amber Dawn Fox didn’t even tell her own husband about Beth’s death?  Now that’s keeping a secret!  But my favorite part of this interview was hearing about the enjoyment that everyone has in between takes.  I’ve always imagined this cast and crew to be a fun loving group that loves what they do.

I’d like to thank Amber Dawn Fox for taking the time out of her busy schedule to answer a few questions about her role on The Walking Dead and look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.  Plus, who knows, maybe we’ll get to see her back at Grady Memorial Hospital since her character is one of the lucky ones that hasn’t been killed off on The Walking Dead.
