We made it!  The Walking Dead season 6 premiere has officially aired. I was actually a little nervous about the episode wondering how everyone would react to the deaths of Pete and Reg.  I certainly did not anticipate starting off with a flash forward.  In fact, it actually took a little while for me to figure out the timeline with the color versus black and white scenes. That’s why I love watching in a group. I can get help with my questions on commercial breaks! But here’s the question at hand — Who died in “First Time Again”?

A Close Call

Dang it, Eugene!  You keep getting in these precarious situations. I was worried for the mullet man even though I doubted he would actually die.  He just looked so vulnerable with Carter’s gun pointed at him.  But I have to give him props for hanging around and listening to Carter suggesting a plot to eliminate Rick. He was willing to take the risk of being seen even before he dropped the jar. While Eugene is certainly no smooth operator, his loyalty is something to be admired. I’m glad you made it, Eugene.  Keep fighting the good fight!

The Jig Is Up

Carol’s facade took a hit tonight when Morgan questioned her about her past and skill set.  He suggests she may have been a cop.  He notices that she is always watching. While her cover was not blown, it is in jeopardy now that Morgan has his suspicions about her.  Personally, I am ready for the Carol Brady act to fall to the wayside.

A Certain Death

Newcomer Carter most certainly did not survive the premiere.  It’s another way The Walking Dead knows how to surprise us. We get a new character played by a well-known actor and assume we will get to know him over the next few episodes.  To the contrary, over the course of one episode, we meet Carter and bid him farewell.  He took a gruesome walker bite to the face, clearly not an appendage one can spare. His fate is certain but his screams are loud.  Rick finishes him off with a knife to the head.

While Carter’s screams could be silenced, the blaring horn noise could not.  The plan has taken a severely dangerous turn for the worse.

The death count for “First Time Again”: 1

As for next week’s episode, it’s looking like that number may get higher.  We are on high alert.
