As The Walking Dead Season 7B edges closer the excitement to see Rick’s group rise up is growing. According to Danai Gurira fans are in for an epic second half of Season 7.

With just a couple of weeks to go until The Walking Dead Season 7B kicks off fans are anxiously waiting to see the survivors reunited. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Danai Gurira said that fans will find the second half of the season “riveting”

She said that at first, the group will still be dealing with the trauma of the events of the first half of the season. Each person has their own way of processing the losses of Glenn and Abe. But now that Rick is back and ready to fight the rest of the group will begin to heal. And once again they will pull together, not apart.

But the group overall has never faced a threat like Negan and the Saviors. Individually they are bound to have some doubts and worries about the risks of taking on the Saviors. They have overcome huge obstacles before by fighting for each other and to protect the family they have created. But Negan’s brutality and the Saviors ferocity may be something that their love for each other can’t overcome.

In the interview, Danai talked about how Michonne saw from the beginning what Rick couldn’t see. She saw that there was no other option but to fight back.

The Saviors goal is the ultimate annihilation of the individual spirit of the people in the communities they rule. There is no way to live in peace under the rule of Negan. He will just keep changing the rules and taking more and more until they either break, or fight back.

An Emotional Moment

Danai also said that it was very emotional for the cast to be reunited. One of the unique features of The Walking Dead is the bond between the actors as well as between the characters. Shooting in isolation in rural Georgia over the course of seven seasons has created the same intense bond off screen that fans see on screen.

She also said that the group can’t rely on emotion alone to win this fight. They will need to find new ways to attack the Saviors, and they will have to find weapons that will work on such a large and well armed force.

More from Undead Walking

There will be some dark moments in Season 7b. There will be betrayal. Some character will have trouble accepting the reality of the war that is coming. But it will be thrilling for fans to see the family they love once again rise up to fight for love, for family, and for survival.

The Walking Dead Season 7b starts on Sunday, February 12th.
