Fear The Walking Dead: Predictions for season 3 episode 5

Now that Daniel Salazar is back will he find Ofelia? And what’s going on back at Broke Jaw Ranch? Here are some predictions for the next episode of Fear The Walking Dead “Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame”.

On the last episode of Fear The Walking Dead Daniel Salazar killed Dante and freed Efrain, Lola and Strand. In the preview for episode 5 “Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame” Daniel and Strand are driving the Jaguar that Strand stole.

It’s safe to assume Strand is taking Daniel back to the hotel in search of Ofelia. But Ofelia is long gone from the hotel. After her run in with Jeremiah Otto at the end of season 2 it’s likely that she’s being held captive somewhere at Broke Jaw Ranch.

Or, Jeremiah could have sent her on her way to get picked up by the Native American tribe that looks to be warring with the Ottos. But it’s more likely she’s somewhere on that ranch. Based on the preview for episode 5 it looks like things are not going well at the ranch.

In a scene reminiscent of the burning of Hershel’s farm in season 2 of The Walking Dead there is a barn on fire on the ranch. And like Hershel’s farm it looks like there might be some walkers in the barn. One of those walkers could be Troy Otto’s mother. It looks like more than secret about Broke Jaw Ranch will be revealed in the next episode.

Daniel Salazar And Strand’s Road Trip

Obviously there is some strife between these two. Daniel has made it clear he doesn’t trust

Strand. Daniel’s a shrewd guy and he knows that Strand is always going to play whatever angle he can find. He won’t make the mistake of assuming that Strand has any loyalty to him. The only reason that Daniel has kept Strand alive is to see if he’s telling the truth about Ofelia. Strand is the only lead Daniel has about Ofelia. But when Daniel finds out that Ofelia isn’t at the hotel things could go bad for Strand.

Presumably Daniel will start heading back to the US border after piecing together Ofelia’s plans. This should put him on target to end up running into the Ottos and ending up at Broke Jaw Ranch. It will be great to see Daniel and Madison reunited. They are a formidable team. But the show’s heading into episode 5 and Ofelia still hasn’t been spotted. It’s possible they won’t reveal her location until the mid-season finale.

Meanwhile, Back At The Ranch

Unlike Hershel’s farm, which was a peaceful haven for the survivors on The Walking Dead, the ranch has a lot of secrets. Jeremiah Otto has been kind to Madison and the Clark kids. But there is an air of menace about him. He might genuinely want Madison and the kids to stay. But he doesn’t want Luciana there. And there’s still the risk of an ugly confrontation between Troy Otto and Nick or Troy Otto and Madison.

The situation at the ranch is escalating. Since the mid-season finale is just a couple of episodes away it’s possible that things at the ranch will come to a head and explode in the Fear The Walking Dead mid-season finale. The next couple episodes, including “Burning In Water, Drowning In Flame” will probably be setting up a major confrontation at the ranch in the mid-season finale.

Jeremiah Otto is an intimidating figure. And Troy is definitely capable of violence. But so are Madison and Daniel Salazar. It’s going to be interesting to see how the inevitable clash between them plays out.
