The cast of The Walking Dead has changed their plans for San Diego Comic Con. They will still be at their panel but the rest of their schedule has changed.

As fans prepare for Preview Night of San Diego Comic Con, word came from AMC’s publicity people early on Wednesday morning that the cast of The Walking Dead would not be making all of their SDCC appearances. No reason for the changes was announced.

The cast will still appear at their Hall H panel on Friday at 12:15pm, where we expect to see the season 8 trailer, and they will sign autographs per the schedule for The Walking Dead booth, but any additional autograph sessions outside SDCC or appearances offsite have been cancelled.

This is the email sent to press Wednesday morning:

"“Sorry for the last minute update, but The Walking Dead cast are no longer participating in any offsite activities or press outside of the panel and autograph signing. Please know that no exceptions will be made. Again, apologies for the inconvenience as we know schedules are difficult to manage. We look forward to rescheduling with you at a later date.”"

SDCC begins a week after the tragic loss of The Walking Dead’s stuntman John Bernecker, who passed away during an on-set accident on July 12. Production was shut down for a few days pending an investigation by OSHA and SAG-AFTRA. The local police investigation concluded after a few days but as far as we know the other two investigations are ongoing.

Whether the cancellations are due to Bernecker’s loss or production delays is not presently known, but given his tragic loss to the TWD Family it’s not difficult to imagine how hard greeting fans could be so soon after his death.
