A Christmas Carol just got more interesting with Andrew Lincoln as Scrooge

Andrew Lincoln, who played Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, is set to take on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in the Christmas classic A Christmas Carol.

This is an Old Vic: In Camera production that has been going on for four years. This year the play will be live-streamed from The Old Vic stage with no audience in attendance due to the pandemic. This live stream is a first for the Old Vic and it will be a full-scale production including live musicians, theatrical lighting, sets and costumes. The cast consists of eighteen performers.

This production is based on the 1843 Charles Dickens novella. It will follow the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his visits from the ghosts of Christmas’ Past, Present and Yet to Come that transform him into a kinder and gentler man.

The Old Vic shared a photo of Lincoln in costume, and he looks so great in this role.

Matthew Warchus has been the director for the past four years, and the production has received high praise. The Old Vics production has been viewed by over a quarter of a million people in London and New York over the years.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Warchus had this to say regarding the live streamed production.

"I am delighted to announce that Andrew Lincoln has joined us in what must surely be one of the most ambitious and complex pieces of live streamed theatre attempted in the pandemic so far.”"

Fans of Lincoln will be able to catch his performance by purchasing tickets via the Old Vic website.  Right now, you can sign up to be notified when the tickets will go on sale. If you are viewing from home with a group, you will only need to purchase one ticket.

Lincoln is reportedly set to return to The Walking Dead world in at least one Walking Dead movie. With filming shutdowns and the announcement of The Walking Dead series coming to an end after its eleventh season, it is uncertain when any Walking Dead movies will happen.
