13) Oceanside helping Tara hold off The Saviors at Hilltop is the first of a few pretty major departures between the show and the comics, as Oceanside isn’t introduced in the comics until after The Saviors are defeated. Technically, though, this is actually the second major departure, as, in the comics, the final battle took place at Hilltop, and not another battlefield.

14) Speaking of departures from the comic, Laura being the one to surrender on The Saviors’ behalf (Before Rick defeated Negan, I might add) is another major departure from the comics, where it was Dwight who ordered the surrender, but, only after Negan was defeated.

15) During their fight, Negan reveals that he only chose not to kill Rick so that Carl wouldn’t have had to see it. That said, he doesn’t explain why he chose Abraham instead.

16) Rick’s change in outlook (Specifically, adopting Carl’s hope for the end of the war) is similar to Rick attempt to make peace with The Governor (Trying to follow what Hershel wanted) in the Season Four midseason finale, “Too Far Gone”, albeit with the opposite outcome.

17) Sure enough, Eugene’s sabotage was inspired by Father Gabriel’s attempt at sabotage, as well as Rosita’s words to him during her and Daryl’s attempt to kidnap Eugene in the season’s penultimate episode, “Worth”.

18) It’s an interesting reversal that Jesus should be the one to inspire Morgan to come back from Crazytown, considering that Morgan tried to kill him back in the season’s third episode, “Monsters”.
