Honorable Mentions

The first season of The Walking Dead was only six episodes but it changed the TV landscape forever. While these were our panel’s favorite moments there are a lot of great moments from season 1 that didn’t make the cut like:

Daryl’s Arrival

Season 1 episode 3: “Tell It To The Frogs”

Daryl Dixon has gone through a massive evolution through the years but looking back at his first appearance on the show it was clear from the start he was invested in the group. He and Merle might have joined the group intending to rob them, but when Daryl appears he’s trying to bring back a deer to feed everyone and he did bring back squirrels. He was more than a little rough around the edges but the real Daryl shone through even in that first scene.

Amy’s Reanimation

Season 1 episode 5: “Wildfire”

As the seasons progress seeing people reanimate as walkers after death became something that audiences got used to but back in season 1 watching Andrea’s sister Amy reanimate after being attacked and bitten by a walker in the camp was fascinating and eerie. It was a moment that emphasized that no matter how familiar the relationships between the characters felt the world that they inhabited was very unfamiliar.
