The Walking Dead 1005 recap: What It Always Is
Daryl leads the group back to Hilltop and Yumiko runs to help Connie with Kelly as Magna carries the supplies.
Siddiq gets a report from Dante about what’s happening at Alexandria. He asks how Rosita is doing, and she caught a little bug but she’s fine. Siddiq promises to leave for home that night. He asks if Carol is around, so Dante goes to grab her while Siddiq grabs Ezekiel. He can hear Dante getting her, and he has Henry’s tiger in his hand. He can hear her sit down, and then he turns off the radio.
Yumiko tells Magna they probably wouldn’t have made it if not for the stash they found. Magna wants her to accuse her of taking it, and it sounds like this wouldn’t be the first time that Yumiko has found her stealing things. Magna says she has looked at her that way for 13 years since showing up in her fancy suit. Yumiko says she saw an innocent person. Magna says “he” didn’t get anything even though her cousin paid for it, so she came for him. When Yumiko looks at her, Magna says it’s that look that gets her every time despite how many people they have killed in the apocalypse. Yumiko says she should find another place to sleep.
Gamma reports back to Alpha about what happened. She shows her the bandage and says that the man with a metal arm gave it to her. Alpha tells her to sit down, and she pulls her skin off. Alpha says they wear different masks at different times. It’s a sacrifice, like Gamma’s sister. She says that Aaron could prove useful, but she might have to wear a new mask.
Connie passes Siddiq and smiles at him on her way to see Daryl. He and dog are leaving. They sign about having to go back, and he asks about Kelly. Connie apologizes for what Magna and Kelly did, but Daryl signs that he understands it’s about family. She smiles and nods, and he gets his bike. Connie signs something to him and he nods, and then he leaves.
Negan is in the woods, at the border. He’s yelling, trying to incite the Whisperers. He’s got his jacket on and he calls out for the little pigs and soon they come running. With Lucille primed and ready, he’s going to huff and puff and blow them in, but someone grabs him and throws him to the ground. It’s Beta.
Negan smiles up at him. “All right, you big a– freak. Let’s do this.”
