Fans of the second Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, have eagerly awaited any news regarding the second and final season of this limited series. Some new casting information has been released.

Deadline has reported that Robert Palmer Watkins’ character Lieutenant Frank Newton, who appeared in the season one episode “The Sky is a Graveyard,” will become a recurring role. He will join returning cast member Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Hal Cumpston, Nicolas Cantu, Nico Tortella, Annet Mahendru and Julia Ormond for the second season of this series.

Watkins is best known for his work on General Hospital as Dillon Quartermaine and Shane Isaacs on Last Life. He will also star in an upcoming thriller, Trapped Inn, about a cycling team trapped in a lodge in the mountains in Europe when two of the members are mysteriously killed. Another upcoming film for the actor is titled Six Feet, about a hotel employee battling inner turmoil while serving guests during a global pandemic.

When will season two of The Walking Dead: World Beyond release?

The second season of The Walking Dead: World Beyond is set to release in 2021 and consists of ten episodes. Taking a look at the current TWDU timeline, The Walking Dead will premiere its eleventh season on August 22, which could allow World Beyond to release after the first part of that season. The first spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, will also release something from the series’s seventh season before the year’s end.

Co-creator and executive producer Scott Gimple teased in an interview on TWDUniverse’s Twitch channel that the second season will uncover more regarding the CRM.  He stated that there would be several very, very different locations where the second season’s story will unfold.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be released on Blu-Ray on June 15. The bonus features will include a look at the series, meeting the characters, and making the first season.

Undead Walking will be sure to post any new information regarding the release of The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s second season.
