One day after AMC aired The Walking Dead’s 20th episode of the last season, Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl Dixon in the TWDU, posts that filming has begun for Daryl’s spinoff. His spinoff will be filmed and set in France. How does he arrive at this destination? Only time will tell.

Little has been revealed for the series, including the title; Reedus has shared he is pushing for a simple title, Daryl Dixon. We do know that he arrives in France unwillingly, and he will eventually come up against the variant walkers seen in The Walking Dead: World Beyond post-credits scene.

If you haven’t watched or don’t remember, the scene is posted here.

The fandom has analyzed this scene, and everyone has a theory. One thing that can be agreed on is this variant is much quicker, possibly stronger, and appears to have some memory retention.

The video also brings back a familiar face from the season final from season 1 of The Walking Dead. You will recognize Dr. Jenner (Noah Emmerich) from the CDC, who told Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) that we are all infected. A bit of knowledge that will change the course of the series as anyone who dies, not necessarily from a walker bite, will turn if their brain isn’t damaged.

Reedus has also teased that fans may see Daryl encounter some familiar faces.

Melissa McBride, who portrays Carol, was supposed to partner with Reedus for a spinoff, but she decided to take some time off and couldn’t make the France filming location work with her schedule. But Reedus, showrunner Angela Kang and McBride have all stated that Carol’s story is far from over. Hopefully, we do see her again in one of the series, or why not her own?

Andrew Lincoln was spotted in France recently setting fire to rumors that Rick will make an appearance in Daryl’s spinoff.

Fans were excited to see the news that Reedus posted on Instagram.

As the final episode of The Walking Dead looms near, the fandom becomes quite emotional. That final episode will be celebrated as fans of the long-running series watches the conclusion of this part of the story. But rest assured TWD Family will live on in the form of several spinoff series.
