Indigenous Canadian actor, dancer, choreographer, director, and educator Michael Greyeyes is known for his role as Qaletaqa Walker in Fear the Walking Dead. Taqa, for short, was featured in season 3 of the series and has never been heard from again. Fans of the Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone prequel 1923 were treated to an appearance of Greyeyes in a recent episode.

In season 1, episode 5 of 1923, “Ghost of Zebrina,” Greyeyes portrayed Hank, a Native American. He meets up with Teonna Rainwater (Aminah Nieves), whose story runs parallel to the Dutton’s and is relevant as she is likely a relative of Thomas Rainwater (Gil Birmingham in Yellowstone), who is a member of the Broken Rock Indian Reservation that borders the Dutton’s Yellowstone Ranch.

Hank meets Teonna as she needs help making her way back to her father, the leader of the Kills Many clan. Hank’s introduction also suggests he is part of the tribe that owned the land abutting the Duttons in 1923. Perhaps we will see more of Hank as the season progresses.

What else does Michael Greyeyes star in?

Greyeyes is a multitalented man whose heritage is Nêhiyaw (Plains Cree) from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. He attended The National Ballet School in 1984, which would see his career start as a dancer. His on-screen debut was in 1993 in a Western movie, Geronimo.

He is well known for his roles in Wild Indian, I Know This Much Is True, Firestarter (2022), Star Trek: Discovery, and True Detective. Greeyues is also well known as a series regular on the comedy Rutherford Falls.

He also stars in the apocalyptic horror Blood Quantum. The story tells about a zombie uprising near a First Nations reserve where the residents are immune to the plague due to their indigenous heritage. This movie is available on AMC+.
