The Walking Dead: Is Washington D.C. ‘No Longer An Option’?

facebooktwitterreddit

The Walking Dead’s fifth season has been a bit of a roller coaster for fans.  We’ve had to deal with the escape from Terminus, the pursuit of The Hunters and, of course, the events at Grady Memorial Hospital in the first half of the fifth season.

But now that we’re looking forward to the second half of the show, it looks like another swerve could be ready to hit the group.

After the group discovered that Eugene didn’t hold the answer to the outbreak, many fans assumed that Rick and the gang would still head toward Washington D.C. to see what the nation’s capitol had become.  But the recent release of a promotional poster has that whole idea in question.

Here what Cory Abbey wrote on the AMC Blogs page about the group’s new destination:

"What does the second half of Season 5 of The Walking Dead have in store for the Rick and the group? The official poster may hold a clue: The new artwork features the survivors heading down a deserted street where Abraham’s note lies on the pavement, eluding to “a new world.” So this begs the question: Where will they go next with Washington D.C. no longer an option? To find out, tune in to the Midseason Premiere of The Walking Dead on Sunday, February 8 at 9/8c on AMC."

So, hold on here.  Washington D.C. is ‘no longer an option’?  Why?

This was not something that was discussed on the show during the first half of season 5.  While the solution to the outbreak doesn’t rest with Eugene getting there, it was easy to assume that the group would continue along the route drawn on the map.  If not just to have a target in mind, the group almost needs to follow the path because Morgan had found the map with the route to Washington D.C. highlighted.

So, did you guys figure that Washington D.C. was no longer an option for the survivors after Eugene came clean about his job?  And where do you think the group will choose as a destination now?  Or will they even choose one specific destination?
