Season 2 of Into The Badlands will air between The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. Will fans be as annoyed as they were the last time AMC did that?

When the first season of Into The Badlands premiered last year AMC gave the new show a boost by airing the show between The Walking Dead and Talking Dead. They hoped that fans of The Walking Dead would watch the new show while they waited for Talking Dead.

Some of them did, because the ratings for the first season of Into The Badlands were respectable for a new genre show. The premiere episode had over 6 million viewers. That was higher than the ratings of almost any other genre show. Even established genre shows couldn’t match it.

Ratings for the show fell once it moved to a different time slot. Without The Walking Dead lead in ratings dipped by about 2 million viewers per episode. But the show ended the season with consistent ratings of over 2 million per episode. Overall the show was well-received by fans who liked the martial arts drama’s blend of story and action.

Some fans of The Walking Dead were not happy about Into The Badlands taking up Talking Dead’s usual time slot however. Many complained about having to wait the extra hour to get their weekly dose of Walking Dead therapy from Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick.

Talking Dead’s ratings dipped slightly when it was pushed to the later time slot but not enough to do any real damage to its usual second place ratings.

Into The Badlands Season 2

AMC is going to try to recapture the high ratings from the series premiere by airing the Into The Badlands Season 2 premiere between The Walking Dead and Talking Dead again. The Season 2 premiere of Into the Badlands will air on March 25th, 2017.

The buzz for the second half of The Walking Dead Season 7 is building. That may boost Into The Badlands Season 2 to a record number of viewers. As Rick and the Survivors make plans to rise up against Negan and the Saviors the ratings  should go up dramatically when the show returns.

The Walking Dead Season 7B returns on Sunday, February 12th.
