The latest episode of The Walking Dead saw another comparison between the two main groups, with the “bad guys” seemingly anything but evil.

We witnessed Rick and Co. assault the peaceful Oceanside community for more guns to give to the Garbage Pail Kids. Meantime, Negan stood up for Sasha and tried to convince her The Saviors are the way to go for survival.

The scenarios are enough to give you a glimpse into the sometimes blurred lines in the show. Yes, there are “bad” and “good” groups, but it’s important to look at it in context.

If you only watched this episode you might think Negan was the good guy, while Rick, who took guns and simply told his people “it’s what we have to do,” is on the other side of the coin. We might view groups differently if we started with The Saviors instead of Rick’s.

The aforementioned Negan does some despicable things (see the season premiere) but he also shows some moral fiber. Negan, who was the MVP of the March 27 episode, took care of #RapeyDavey after the latter tried to take sexual favors from Sasha in exchange for water.

Negan is in many ways a womanizer, as he has multiple wives and loves the attention. However, he’s always been against rape or violence against women for the most part. While his wives are under a certain amount of duress, Negan doesn’t have sex unless it’s consensual and he holds that rule for his followers as well.

Negan is a bad dude, but you have to hand it to a guy for sticking to principles. Life with The Saviors isn’t altogether bad so long as rules are followed. If they aren’t then there’s hell to pay.

More from Undead Walking

That’s easy enough for many in the zombiepocalypse. Would it be for you? It would be for me.

Honorable mentions: Tara’s middle finger, Negan’s knife and Michonne’s poor aim.
