Hulu is developing a new series that focuses on the Murdaugh family from the Lowcountry region of South Carolina, who made headlines for abusing their legal and political influence. Two Walking Dead alums have been announced for the upcoming series.
Based on journalist Mandy Matney's Murdaugh Murders Podcast, the series will utilize Matney's years of reporting on the Maggie and Alex Murdaugh family's stranger-than-fiction stories. Showrunner, Michael D. Fuller, co-created and executive produces the series with Erin Carr. Matney, along with Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund of Eat the Cat, will also executive produce.
Deadline recently reported new casting details for the series, which include Walking Dead's Noah Emmerich, who joins previously announced TWD alum, Jayson Warner Smith. Emmerich has been cast as Randy Murdaugh, the straight-laced and by-the-book older brother of Alex. Smith will portray Bruce Dinwiddle, who is based on Richard Lafitte, Alex's best friend and banker.
Jason Clarke will portray Alex, with Patricia Arquette as Maggie. Mandy Matney will be played by Brittany Snow, with J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor, Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh, and Will Harrison as Buster Murdaugh. Kathleen Wilhoite and Tommy Dewey have also been annouced for the series.
The yet-to-be-titled limited series will air on Hulu and delve deep into the lives of the Murdaughs, who, for years, have been accused of numerous crimes, including fraud and murder. The new series will be added to the growing list of docuseries and news specials focusing on the family.
