Does The Arrival Order Of Actors Give Away Plot On The Walking Dead?
By Adam Carlson
Recently, articles have been posted about actors arriving in Georgia to begin filming on season 5 of The Walking Dead. However, some notable names hadn’t checked in yet and that led to some speculation on several websites about when each actor will make their debut during the season.
As a huge fan of The Walking Dead and someone who is somewhat familiar with how most television shows are shot, I can say that this most likely isn’t giving away anything as far as what is going on.
The main reason I say this is because directors, producers and creators of the show are really smart. They will shoot scenes out of order if they help lower the cost of having actors on the set and a larger crew to accommodate them. As viewers of the show, it is fun to think that the show is recorded in the exact order that we see during the final cut of The Walking Dead when it runs on AMC, but that just isn’t the case.
Not only that, but some scenes just don’t require an actor. It’s not like all the actors hang out in the background of every scene just to remind us that they’re still a part of the show and haven’t been killed off yet. We saw a great example of this in season 4 of The Walking Dead when the crew got split up and different episodes focused on only a small number of actors. These are the kind of scenes that make a lot of sense to film out of order to save money on the production of the show.
In closing, don’t try to read too much into things. It’s great that fans get first hand information on social media about arrivals and some tiny tidbits about what is going on, but it’s hard to speculate on what is going on during the filming of The Walking Dead unless you’re there to experience it first hand.
