Group Of Walking Dead Survivors To Expand In Season 5
By Adam Carlson
What would The Walking Dead be without death? Killing off characters has become something of a regular occurrence in the world of walkers. However, new characters have to be introduced in order to be able to kill off some of them or replace some of older members of Rick’s group that happen to pass away.
There should be a whole bunch of new characters added to the for season 5. Castoffs from Terminus and folks close to Father Gabriel are two good guesses about added folks, but we could see even more than that. The AMC television show does deviate from the comic books at times, so we could really see any number of folks added to the group.
The problem is that those characters don’t seem to last long. With a few exceptions, most new characters seem to meet a horrible death pretty early into their adventures.
Here is what The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman said about the characters in the upcoming season during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:
"Robert Kirkman on The Talking Dead“We’re always going to be cycling through characters, as I like to say in an ominous and foreboding kind of way. If we’re not bringing new blood into the mix then we’ll eventually run out. So we’re definitely going to be bringing some new blood into the mix and always moving forward.”"
“New Blood”. That sounds about right. I’m going to try not to get too attached to the new characters, but there always seems to be at least one that I start to develop a rapport with.
By the sounds of things, there should be a lot more characters coming up. During an AMC interview with Jolly Dale, a producer for The Walking Dead, she gave away a couple tidbits on the future of the show as well:
"“There’s a lot of stuff I’m not allowed to talk about, but readers of the comic book will have a pretty good idea of which direction we’re going in. The way I see it is, we’ve killed a lot of beloved characters on the show, but that just opens it up for new storylines to come along. So don’t be too sad about all the people who died in Season 4 because there will be way more characters to come.”"
I just hope that I don’t end up loving a character in season 5 and then have them die almost immediately. Thanks, Otis.
