Review: Pinball FX2 – Telltale Games The Walking Dead
By Adam Carlson
A little over a week ago, I posted an article about how Zen Pinball was releasing a “The Walking Dead” table for the Playstation 4 gaming system. I spoke about how jealous I was about this because I don’t own a Playstation 4.
However, Xbox One owners (like me) finally got a chance to download The Walking Dead’s pinball game on Pinball FX2.
I downloaded the game with ease from the Pinball FX2 game menu on my Xbox One and was playing it within minutes. The game featured many characters from the Telltale Games version of The Walking Dead and also showed many of the locations and scenarios that were focused on in the game.
Having Lee available in this game was awesome. He is one character that I really enjoyed from season 1 of Telltale’s The Walking Dead and couldn’t help smiling when I saw him interacting with Clementine on the bottom of the pinball table. There are also many other characters from season 1 that were a lot of fun, like Duck
The game plays just like many other pinball games. The point is to score as many points as possible while completing objectives and completing chapter tests. Some of these chapters are fun to play and are a nice change of pace from from the pinball action while others are a frustrating mess that makes you want to throw your controller down in anger.
Most notably, the sniping minigame is the worst part of this game. The controls are used on the shoulder buttons, and that is very awkward for anyone who has ever played first person shooters and is counter-intuitive for folks who are new to gaming. The other minigames are a lot of fun though and can be played multiple times while avoiding that terrible sniping game.
Overall, I had a lot of fun with The Walking Dead pinball on Pinball FX2. I wasn’t expecting this table to be included on the Xbox One, but it was quietly added to the list. I do recommend that you pick up this game, especially if you love Telltale’s game series and enjoy playing pinball.
