Yesterday was the birthday of The Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln.  Famous for his role as Rick Grimes, the now 41 year old actor has gotten a lot of respect for his work lately.

Not that Andrew Lincoln needed newfound respect.  Prior to his role as Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead, he touched people’s hearts in the romantic film Definitely Maybe and was a regular on the TV show Afterlife.  However, Andrew Lincoln’s notoriety as hit an all time high ever since he first took the small screen by storm on The Walking Dead.

That respect has been shown to Andrew Lincoln by many of his co-stars on The Walking Dead.  While I assume many of the well wishes were delivered either in person or on the television, some of his castmates took to social media to honor their co-star.

There are two of Andrew Lincoln’s birthday wishes that were shared with the public that the most notable.  The first was from Norman Reedus, who offered a hilarious spoof of the “SURVIVE” posters from season 4:

The photo included the text saying “Happy birthday to one of the best people I know” from Reedus to Lincoln.

Even though that share was entertaining, the best share came from 15 year old Chandler Riggs, who plays Rick Grimes’ son Carl on The Walking Dead.  His post was a much more emotional and heartfelt share that really helps show how the cast of The Walking Dead has truly become a family.

Here’s what Chandler Riggs shared on his instagram account for Andrew Lincoln’s birthday:

And here was the text accompanying the photo:

"“happy birthday to my idol and favorite actor. 5 years ago, i met this old man, and i had no idea if i would see him again. andy, youve been a massive inspiration to me, and i thank you so much for teaching me and helping me through things. happy birthday, “dad”.”"

I know that as a fan of The Walking Dead, that I’ve grown to appreciate Andrew Lincoln for his hard work on The Walking Dead and appreciate the work that goes into the show and keeping the Walking Dead family together.

Happy late birthday to Andrew Lincoln and I hope to see him in many, many more seasons of The Walking Dead.
