Debate: Does The Walking Dead Suck? [VIDEO]
By Adam Carlson
The Walking Dead may be one of the most popular shows in the world, but not everyone shares that love for the hit AMC show. As a matter of fact, some folks find the show to be repetitious and boring. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, the appeal of The Walking Dead was debated earlier this month by Screen Junkies.
If you’re not familiar with Screen Junkies, you should be. They always have fun and entertaining videos, usually depicting observations and debates regarding some of the most popular movies and television shows. So, it was inevitable that they would be discussing The Walking Dead at some point.
For this debate, two teams of two folks were formed. Arguing that The Walking Dead is a good and worthwhile show are Rhett and Link, famous for their ability to make viral commercials for small local businesses. Arguing that the show is a waste of time was comedian Brock Baker and Screen Junkies’ own Dan Murrell.
Here is the YouTube video of the debate:
While both sides made some good points in their arguments, I just can’t see The Walking Dead as being a waste of anyone’s time. Sure, there are some episodes that aren’t as action packed as others, but that only helps create solid characters and build up the tension for when the poop actually hits the fan.
I know I’m biased since I’m a BIG fan of the series, but I recommend The Walking Dead to anyone that can stomach a little gore now and then. Sure, on the face of the show, it’s all about people living in a zombie apocalypse, but it’s really so much more.
Also, I feel that this debate would have been much different if they had watched a couple episodes of season 5 before doing the video. Season 5 has hit the ground running and hasn’t really looked back. This is a show that seems to continue getting better as it goes, and there’s no real sign of it stopping any time soon.
So, what do you think? Does the Walking Dead really suck? Did Brock Baker and Dan Murrell make some valid points as to why the show actually does suck? Or did Rhett and Link fail to make some arguments as to why the show should be recommended to everyone? Discuss it in the comments below.
