Robert Kirkman: Negan To Appear In The Walking Dead Season 9?
By Adam Carlson
Fans of The Walking Dead who enjoy the comic books in addition to the hit AMC television show have been patiently waiting for the introduction of one of the most brutal and vulgar characters from the comic pages to grace the small screen. Sadly, according to the words The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman, fans will have to wait quite a while longer for Negan’s introduction.
Robert Kirkman spoke with Business Insider earlier this year at NYC Comic Con about the major problem with bringing Negan on the show and then ending with a saddening blow to those waiting.
"“Negan says a word that you can’t say on television. I understand that. I think that there are ways around that. Luckily, we’re not going to have to work that out for some time. I’m not going to say when Negan will possibly show up on the show, but it’s not any time soon.”"
Aside from Negan’s love for using extremely vulgar language and his downright brutal approach to everything, the show has to worry about introducing him at a time when the it fits in the story of The Walking Dead.
Robert Kirkman spoke about that with the folks at ComicBook.com about how timing is important in bring Negan in.
"“We actually talk about that a bit in the writer’s room as to when it would be appropriate to bring him in and what needs to happen in order to get to that point. Unless the show gets canceled abruptly very soon, you’ll see Negan on the TV show. Like Season 9?”"
SEASON 9? Really, Robert Kirkman? I know that the creator of The Walking Dead has a good sense of humor, but that’s just vicious. You can’t make us wait that long for what might be the greatest villain in the comic book! Still, it means that the television show is planning some major storylines to help hold us over until we are introduced to The Saviors at some point in the series.
