Walking Dead Season 5 Midseason Finale Predictions: Coda

facebooktwitterreddit

The Walking Dead always seem to go the extra mile to make sure that there are as few spoilers as possible for their finales.  That includes Sunday’s season 5 midseason finale, Coda.

Despite that, I’m going to try my best to predict what will happen in that episode.  The storylines will jump around a lot, not focusing on one of them for too long.  Still, here are my best guesses as to what will happen in Coda, Sunday’s midseason finale:

The Hospital Storyline

  • Officer Bob returns to Dawn and informs her of the group’s intention to trade two officers for Carol and Beth.
  • Dawn and another officer find Beth’s IV for Carol and administer her a world class beatdown, rendering her unconscious.
  • The hospital positions snipers and go on high alert to prepare for Rick Grimes and the group, including having something interesting with Beth and Carol to gain leverage.

The Church Storyline

  • Father Gabriel takes a trip to the site where The Hunters ate Bob’s leg and inadvertently draws a group of walkers back to the church.
  • The group has fortified the church and the exit that Father Gabriel made to escape the church had been boarded up.  Gabriel gets trapped under the church, pounding for the survivors to come save him.
  • Michonne and Carl bust out of the church, dispatching the walkers and saving Gabriel.
  • Gabriel’s guilt about locking a family out of the church gets even wore, but he begins to understand that walkers aren’t people, but monsters.
  • He enters the church, and it is fortified again.  Then, he learns from Carl and Michonne how to defend himself.

Rick’s Group Storyline

  • Sasha becomes conscious and goes to warn the rest of the group about Officer Bob’s escape.
  • The group decides to go through with the exchange attempt, but want to set up snipers and safety precautions for when Rick approaches the hospital unarmed.
  • Noah offers to return to the hospital in the exchange if it will help the deal get done.

The GREATM Storyline

  • Eugene comes to and continuously apologizes for lying to everyone.  Eventually, Abraham calms down enough to not punch him out again.
  • The group decides to head back toward the church, since their trip to D.C. serves no function anymore.
  • They stop to fuel up, and they get attacked by a group of walkers.  Everyone is in the vehicle except Eugene and Tara, and Abraham is yelling at Rosita to drive away.

Hospital Vs Rick’s Group

  • While Rick approaches the hospital, Sasha and Daryl watch closely from the roof.  Noah and Tyreese begin rounding up walkers like Carol did before her attack on Terminus.
  • Rick demands Dawn come outside and listen to the demands, but she sends out Officer Bob to tell them that she refuses the trade.
  • They demand that Rick leave the hospital grounds immediately, to which a sniper misses a shot that whizzes past his head.
  • Sasha and Daryl make quick work of most of the snipers, but fail to take out two of them, who put a bullet through the head of Noah.  In exchange, Sasha takes out Officer Bob with her rifle.
  • The group takes defensive positions and prepares to enter the hospital.  With the information Noah gave them, they sneak up through the stairwell with the help of some of the wards, but Tyreese gets shot in the leg by one of the officers.
  • Beth begins to come to and sees the standoff in the hallway.
  • Dawn pulls her gun and shoots Sasha in the head.  While a lot of the group is stunned, Beth grabs a scalpel and lunges toward Dawn’s throat.  However, Dr. Edwards grabs her before she can do it.
  • Dawn turns around and fires a round through Beth’s head.  Immediately after that, Tyreese shoots Dawn, dropping her to the ground, but not killing her.
  • Rick stands over her, asking her why she couldn’t just make the trade, and fires one shot into her head.
  • Music from Dr. Edwards record player plays as Beth bleeds out on the hospital floor right next to Dawn’s lifeless body as everyone else stands down.
  • The screen pans out the window of the hospital to show a MASSIVE horde of walkers closing in on the hospital, drawn in from all the gunfire.

After The Credits

  • Morgan is seen looking at the destruction of Terminus from a distance, then turns away and keeps walking.
