A Plead To China: Let Them Watch The Walking Dead

China is cracking down on their file sharing sites. That means some popular shows that contain violence or sexual content could be eliminated from the country’s most popular websites for sharing American shows like The Walking Dead and Masters of Sex.

Very few shows from the United States get to be aired in China. And most of those that do are on channels like Sohu, which is a free channel that is described as a tool to help learn the English language. But now, even those are in danger of being taken away due to copyright infringements and government censorship.

Things got even worse for Chinese television fans when the country’s government shut down two of their largest file sharing sites and could make it so that most American tv series won’t be seen until they are available in full season format.

Some fans of The Walking Dead in the United States get frustrated because they have to wait an hour for the west coast showing of the hit AMC show, but could you imagine having to wait until the full season is out to binge watch them all in an edited format? Avoiding spoilers for one hour is hard enough and the anticipation of a new episode every week is something that really helps build the tension on The Walking Dead.

We at Undead Walking would like to plead to the Chinese government to allow their citizens to continue to watch The Walking Dead on their streaming services in an unedited format. It is a fantastic show that shows humans at their most broken down element in an environment of hopelessness with danger around every corner. Don’t let your citizens miss out on this fantastic show!
