The Walking Dead Has Impacted Emily Kinney’s Music

While fans of The Walking Dead know Emily Kinney for her work as Beth Greene on the hit AMC television show, she also has careers in both modeling and music.

Emily Kinney writes her own songs, particularly the lyrics.  While much of her music is upbeat and cheerful, there are some songs where you can hear the influence that being in Atlanta working on The Walking Dead has had on her music.

In a recent article on Access Hollywood, Emily Kinney spoke about how these influences have made their way into her music career.

"“Back and forth this season between shooting, I have been recording and I feel like Atlanta is definitely getting infused into my songs or even just the people that I’m meeting and my perspective on things, because one thing I do like to do in my songs is I do like to draw from my life and the things that I’m going through, so that will definitely come through.”"

Ms. Kinney even sited an exact example of how The Walking Dead crept its way into her music.  Some of the thoughts that she was having as Beth Greene still appear in the music, making her wonder how big of an impact that the hit AMC show has had on her life and her career.  On her next album, Emily Kinney has a song called “Last Chance” that she believes was heavily influenced by her time with all the walkers.

"“I have one song called ‘Last Chance’ on my next album. And I realized while I was writing that song, I was like, ‘Why am I writing this weird song?’ and I realized a lot of it was just because of the thoughts that have gone through my head as Beth. I was like, ‘Why do I keep feeling like I need to say this?’ … You’ll see, but it’s kind of about the end of the world.”"

The end of the world is definitely something that Beth Greene would know a lot about.  During her time on The Walking Dead, she was put in some really bad situations and lost many of the people close to her.  That kind of pain from a character translated into music could be an excellent base for a song.
