Fear The Walking Dead Could Learn From Better Call Saul

The Walking Dead isn’t coming back until the fall, but Fear The Walking Dead is going to relieve fans and it could learn a thing or two from Better Call Saul.

The Walking Dead is going to be handing things off to it’s spinoff series Fear The Walking Dead this summer, and that’s going to put a lot of pressure on the new series to live up to the hype.

There’s a lot of things that could go wrong with the series, as many are fearing that it could be derivative of the original series or leann it as a crutch.

Already, Robert Kirkman has tried to distance the two shows from one another, as he refuses to call it a spinoff and insists on calling it a companion series.

That’s stupid though, because the two series are connected and you can’t get around that — even if it’s just subtle. But what Fear The Walking Dead can lean on, rather than it’s original series, is a fellow AMC spinoff. Better Call Saul premiered to rave reviews this winter, after many critics harbored the same fears about it that they have for Fear The Walking Dead.

But rather than lean on Breaking Bad, which could have easily ben a crutch, Better Call Saul became an entity of it’s own despite the fact that they call back to the original series on a regular basis. That’s what Fear The Walking Dead can do and it’s something that gives hope to the idea that the series can operate on it’s own and not rely on the original series the way so many believe it might.
