The Walking Dead: When Will We Learn More About Daryl’s Past?

The Walking Dead has a way of teasing events and then holding off on expounding upon them — and that’s the case with Daryl Dixon and his mysterious past.

When The Walking Dead decided to set up Beth’s storyline this season, fans thought that we were watching the birth of a new, strong female character. Then Beth was killed off and all hopes when to hell in a hand basket — but not all storylines that were set up in Season 5 died with their characters.

Sure, Tyreese, Bob and Noah all kicked the bucket too and Gareth was chopped up by Rick before his story could play out behind cannibalism, but there’s one storyline we want to see played out that could have a big impact on the future of the show.

Daryl Dixon has a particular book fall out of his backpack during his episode with Carol in the first half of the fifth season and fans are waiting for that storyline to be played out. It heavily hinted at a dark past for Daryl that could show why he is the way he is on The Walking Dead.

It’s a series that is never afraid to tackle tough subjects, and Daryl’s past could be one of those subjects that is tackled. A lot of dark things likely happened to Daryl to make him who he is on The Walking Dead, and he’s a character with flaws that people identify with.

There were rumors that Daryl was gay, and that was an issue that the show would tackle but there are other topics to tackle with Daryl and it will be interesting to see them played out. The only question is when will they be played out, as the series has put his backstory on the back burner — and that makes the wait even more excruciating than it already it.

Season 6 seems like a great place to tackle the topic of Daryl’s backstory and it could serve as a meaty running story the entire season.
