Our favorite zombie survivin’ country gal is taking up a new job as a nanny. A spooky nanny. Actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene on The Walking Dead, will star in new thriller ‘The Boy’. She’s currently busy over in Victoria, British Columbia filming the picture. A 2016 release date at the cinema on the wings.

Plot Preview

The script penned by Stacey Menear, features Cohan as a nanny watching over a lifelike doll. One that a mourning couple dealing with the death of their young son treat as real and alive. Despite a sense of coping from the sorrow of the two parents, the nanny begins to be convinced it truly is breathing life.

Cast and Crew

– William Brent Bell will be directing the feature film for LakeShore Entertainment/Vertigo Entertainment. Bell previously directed 2012’s exorcism-laced horror picture, ‘The Devil Inside’.

– Stacey Menear will be composing the screenplay for ‘The Boy’. This will be Menear’s first Hollywood script green-lighted into production. Menear previously wrote Mixtape, a script that appeared on the industry’s prestigious “Black List” in 2009. The Black List represents the best unproduced scripts of the year. – This is Lauren Cohan’s first film since 2014’s ‘Reach Me’, where she played character Kate. ‘Reach Me’ was a departure from The Walking Dead’s gloomy straits. Its plot focused on a mysterious motivational book.

– Actor James Russell is set to play character James on ‘The Boy’. Russell most recently starred on the ‘Forever’ television series in 2014 as Mr. Keely.

Release Date

The film is set to debut on January 22, 2016. Just in time to tide Walking Dead fans over until the second half of the upcoming Season 6.

Fun fact for you trivia lovers out there, ‘The Boy’ was originally titled ‘The Inhabitant’.
