The Walking Dead And Fear The Walking Dead Will Meet Up

With The Walking Dead going into its 6th season this Fall and Fear The Walking Dead set to premiere this July, there has never been a better time to love zombies.  The interesting thing about these two shows featuring the undead is that they will offer very different experiences of the outbreak.

While The Walking Dead picked up well into the infection where there were quite a few walkers to deal with, Fear The Walking Dead will instead focus on the initial stages of the outbreak where there will be very few zombies looking to eat human flesh.

That difference looks to be temporary though.

Like all things, time will pass on Fear The Walking Dead.  As the clock ticks on the survivors, there will be more and more walkers being created and the threat will get bigger.  Another thing that will happen as time goes by on Fear The Walking Dead is that it will get closer to the timelines on The Walking Dead.

In a recent article on the Entertainment Weekly website, the creator of The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, gave us a specific example of the timelines on the two programs.  He even cited two examples that fans should already be looking forward to.

"“I will say that I don’t consider this show to be a prequel to The Walking Dead, because there will be a point where a certain episode of this show will line up with season 2 of The Walking Dead, and a certain episode of this show will line up with season 3 of The Walking Dead. So we will be progressing through time to the point that we do pass the initial days of the outbreak. But how fast it is that we get there? That’s just going to have to remain a mystery.”"

It’s interesting that Kirkman didn’t use the first episode of The Walking Dead to use as the focal point for his talk about timelines.  Instead, he’s focusing on “certain” episodes from the show’s second and third seasons as points where the timelines will cross.

But just how much interaction between the two shows will there be?  And will those nods seem like familiar nods to the past or cheesy additions to a show in hopes to keep fans interested?  We will just have to wait and see what Robert Kirkman has in store for us this Summer on AMC.
