Michael Rooker is confirmed to reprise his role as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy 2! In a Periscope interview session, Director James Gunn took on questions from the Guardians’ fan base.

Gunn told fans to expect Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, and Karen Gillan to return. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is currently slated for release on May 5th, 2017 in the U.S. and April 28th, 2017 in the UK.

The Guardians director previously revealed completing the first draft for the sequel on social media. Including a teaser pic of the script on Twitter.

Michael Rooker Discuses the Yondu Character with Clevver Movies:

– He calls the Yondu character the muscle of the team.

– Rooker calls Yondu’s duality of character part of life. The yin-yang, good and bad.

– When Rooker is asked which side Yondu would be on in the Star Wars films? He responds “On the side that wins”. Classic response, evoking memories of his Merle Dixon role on The Walking Dead.

Michael Rooker Starring in Horror Film, The Belko Experiment:

James Gunn will also be working with Michael Rooker on his latest project, The Belko Experiment. The Gunn penned script will feature Michael Rooker as character Bud Melks. The horror thriller has began filming in Bogota, Colombia with Director Greg McLean. McLean previously directed and wrote horror film Wolf Creek, released in 2005. As well as Wolf Creek 2, released in 2013 (2014 in the U.S.).

– The premise for The Belko Experiment is set to revolve around ’83 employees in South America finding themselves trapped in their workplace, when they are ordered over loudspeaker to eliminate their fellow employees or be eliminated themselves’. This will be a familiar and intense role for The Walking Dead’s Merle Dixon.

– Walking Dead fans excited to see Michael Rooker in a film this year can catch Bolden! The film stars Michael Rooker as character Pat McMurphy, a sidekick of Buddy Bolden’s (the first Cornet king of New Orleans) adversary Judge Perry. Directed by Dan Pritzker, Bolden! is in post-production and currently slated for release on November 11, 2015.
