As you probably already know, Jordan Woods-Robinson plays the role of Eric on The Walking Dead. You may also know that he is a Blue Man, a vocal artist, musician, and vegan. But did you know that he is also a really good kickball player and that his new favorite app is Tofu Hunter?

You can find out all this and more just from his social media accounts. Jordan is very active on Twitter (recently Verified!) and Instagram, replying regularly to fan inquiries and sharing insights into his daily life,

often humorous ones, I might add.

Jordan is not only generous with his fans but with his fellow artists as well. He has an online recording studio called SOSstudio, which provides recording services and other technical resources to artists. SOSstudio is a great source for networking opportunities and industry knowledge. It is very impressive to see an artist take a collaborative approach in such a competitive industry.

One of the many fruits of this artist collaboration is the SOSstudio project, Songs on Sunday, which brings the musical community together to produce a new original song every week of the summer. If that sounds impressive, go check out the full versions of last summer’s 14 amazing tracks here. It is such a diverse collection! I am already a fan of the songs NeoSporin and Getting the Fear. Songs on Sunday 2015 begins 6/14, so be sure to join Jordan for the next song release plus an interview with the songwriter.  Then look forward to more great music throughout the summer! Plus, a new feature this year will be the ability to purchase the 2015 songs so that you can download them to your current playlist.

SOSstudio also has a weekly podcast to educate and inform not only artists, but anyone who is interested in technology and promoting any sort of project. The Walking Dead Fans will definitely not want to miss SOSstudio Sessions #6 and #14:

In SOSstudio Session #6  Jordan reveals details about his audition process for The Walking Dead as well as insights regarding the production of his new album Crazy and Back. Session #6 also includes a “special guest” who is of special interest to The Walking Dead fans, but you have to listen VERY carefully in order to find this mystery person.

SOSstudio Session #14 is an amazing podcast dedicated to The Walking Dead fandom phenomenon and explores ways that fans like to interact with the cast and the show in general. Jordan interviews five different fans asking them about a wide range of topics related to making fans feel loved. Did I mention that Jordan is generous with his fans? Indeed he is because he solicited actual fan feedback for this podcast, read approximately 75 emails from fans that responded, AND mentioned each respondent by name on the actual podcast recording!

I recently had the pleasure of asking Jordan a few specific questions about his experience thus far with The Walking Dead fans. Here’s what he had to say:

How quickly did your number of Twitter followers grow upon release of your first TWD episode? Were you surprised at how quickly fans wanted to get to know you?

I started this whole journey with around 400 followers on Twitter and far less on Instagram. (I’ve been a Blue Man for 8 years, but the character is anonymous, so not a lot of people are hunting for me online.) Now, 3 months later, I have over 10 times as many followers on Twitter and even more on Instagram. I believe I gained about 1,000 new followers in a week and everyone was so incredibly interested in talking to me and learning more about the actor behind the character of Eric. It really made me feel supported and welcomed and set off my desire to connect with anyone that reached out. I personally read every comment that comes to me on Facebook and Twitter and really try to reply to as many as possible.

Do fans mostly ask you about the The Walking Dead or are there some other recurring topics that come up?

At first people wanted to know mostly about The Walking Dead: how I was cast, what the cast was like, etc. But now that people know me a little better, I also get questions about my role with Blue Man Group, my personal music career and the instruments I play, and also about my vegan lifestyle. The Walking Dead still dominates Q&As but more and more topics are starting to come through.

Do you find that fans are respectful when Tweeting you or commenting on your Instagram?

I’ve seen lots of respect in my interactions on social media. There have only been a handful of comments that have been hurtful or uncalled for. Those do cut deep, but the general vibe I’ve felt from the fan base is that they stand up for and protect those involved with the show. If an offsides comment is made, it is met with a wall of resistance from other fans. With an audience this large, it’s perfectly normal that there are going to be a wide array of opinions. But there’s a time and place for sharing your opinions and the fans have made it clear that hateful comments are not going to go unchallenged when posted for the public to see.

You seem to be really excited about attending Walker Stalker Con Orlando. What are you most looking forward to?

Orlando Walker Stalker Con is my first convention and I’m thrilled! I’ve had a fantastic time interacting with fans of the show online, but that can only go but so far. Social media is a snippet of a person’s personality, not the full picture. Any fan that is dedicated enough to want to meet me will be met with open arms and a warm smile. Can’t wait!

P.S. Other conventions are also in the works for me, so even if Orlando is not on your list, we’ll still have time later on!

And one more question for fun:

You seem to be a very high energy guy. Would you attribute this to your vegan food choices, your personality, both, or something all together different?

I am a very driven person and I usually have to keep moving forward in order to feel like I’ve been productive. So this often leads to me taking on multiple projects at once and constantly bouncing back and forth between them. There are many hats on my proverbial hat rack. I think being vegan helps give me sustained energy (I certainly noticed a huge increase in energy when I cut out dairy and cut down on the amount of processed foods), but my drive is just rooted within me. I’ve had people ask me before if I do drugs, but the answer is no. My body must pump out a natural speed!

I can’t wait to see what the character of Eric has in store for us in Season 6 of The Walking Dead and I’m grateful that Jordan is so willing to share his journey with his fans. He is truly multi-talented and it has been a wonderful experience getting to know him better! Please share in the Comments section below any fun fan interactions you’ve had with Jordan or any questions we might be able to ask him another time.
