Will Fear The Walking Dead Screw Up Infection Revelation?
By Josh Hill
Fear The Walking Dead will eventually have to reveal the massive zombie infection to it’s characters — but how will it do that?
When Fear The Walking Dead premieres later this summer on AMC, we’re going to finally see how things started and how we went from the world we live in today to the apocalyptic crap storm that the world is engulfed in during The Walking Dead.
Of course, that’s not the sole purpose of the prequel/companion series, but it’s going to be a pretty large part of it. The trick seems to be in how the series is going to reveal the massive infection to it’s characters and when it does that.
According to Robert Kirkman, Fear The Walking Dead will reveal the infection to it’s characters in a very different way then was revealed on the original series back in Season 1.
"So yeah, anything that you learn from Fear the Walking Dead will apply to the mythology of The Walking Deadand vice versa. So you are going to get to see the characters learn that they’re all infected in a much different way. But all the rules do apply and are the same. That will be some of the fun if you’re watching both shows."
Many The Walking Dead fans will reveal that Kirkman popped the lid on the infection reveal way early on in The Walking Dead‘s run, but things could naturally be different this time around.
The biggest and most obvious reason for this is that The Walking Dead began after the infection had already started whereas Fear The Walking Dead will take place before all of that happened. There are plenty of ways to screw up the reveal of the infection but it seems natural that the revelation of the infection will be violent and jarring.
Hopefully this steers clear of cliche, as watching someone violently turn into a zombie or having them mysteriously appear is something that has ben done before — and The Walking Dead prides itself on blazing new trails. Robert Kirkman has earned our trust and for that reason we can fully expect him to not mess up the infection revelation on Fear The Walking Dead.
