Fear The Walking Dead premieres in a few weeks, and already we’re hearing more about who might live and who might die in the first season.

We are just weeks away from the much anticipated premiere of Fear The Walking Dead on AMC. As a result, the series is rolling out their actors to do press for the show, and one of those actresses making the rounds is Mercedes Mason.

Mason will be playing Ofelia Salazar in the first season of the show and it sounds like she’s going to make it out alive and become part of the main cast moving forward. The topic of death always comes up though when you’re discussing anything Walking Dead related, and this was true of Mason’s latest interview hyping the new series.

In an interview with a comic book blog, Mercedes Mason talked about who dies in the first season of the show and hinted that nothing too heartbreaking happens right off the bat.

"There hasn’t been anything yet. We’re humans. We all have rumors and things like that like, “You’re gonna die! I’m gonna die!” Things like that but nothing as of yet that’s been too heartbreaking that we weren’t aware of going into it."

Of course, this doesn’t mean that we won’t see someone major die as Mason was clear to point out that any deaths that happened weren’t anything cast wasn’t already aware of. What we can assume is that the main cast survives the first season, and it’s their loved ones that pay the piper in order to give them — and us — emotional grounding.

We can’t be sure of what really happens until we see it — and if there’s a show that doesn’t mind throwing us a curveball in the form of a character death, it’s The Walking Dead and Robert Kirkman.

Fear The Walking Dead will premiere on August 23rd at 9pm ET on AMC.
