The Walking Dead: Exclusive interview with Major Dodson
By Adam Carlson
AMC’s The Walking Dead is one of the most popular shows on television. Now that the hit zombie survival drama has entered its sixth season, we’ve seen many great characters come and go, but one of the most unique has to be Alexandria’s Sam Anderson.
Sam is a young man played by 12 year old Major Dodson, who has enjoyed the safety of Alexandria’s walled community for most of the zombie apocalypse. The character is part of an abusive family that is struggling to hold everything together, but that all changed when he met Rick Grimes’ group…specifically Carol Peletier.
Recently, Undead Walking had the opportunity to speak with Major Dodson about his role on The Walking Dead, his past acting gig on American Horror Story: Freak Show and much more.
Here is what he had to say:
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me today. I didn’t know much about you until I saw you on The Walking Dead and then I saw you again when I was catching up on American Horror Story on Netflix. I found both those roles to be very interesting because they were so similar, yet different. How did your role on American Horror Story: Freak Show help prepare you for The Walking Dead?
"“It was primarily the suspense and the atmosphere that I had to have for The Walking Dead. In that way, it prepared me because it also made me realize how to deal with situations and that really helped me for The Walking Dead. So that’s why I’m really appreciative of The Walking Dead and American Horror Story because they taught me a lot.”"
American Horror Story has a cast that seems to return for several seasons at a time. Any chance we’ll see you join back up with them?
"“Unfortunately, no. But you never know! The world is surprising”"
