The Walking Dead: Will Garret Dillahunt be AMC’s Negan?

There are rumors swirling that Garret Dillahunt will be AMC’s answer to The Walking Dead comic books’ version of supervillan Negan of the Saviors.

Fans of The Walking Dead have been eagerly awaiting the appearance of Negan, the leader of The Saviors, for while a while now.  Even though he’s a villain, has no problem with murder, mutilates people for fun, and swears like a sailor, fans have grown to love him.  A rumor is that he will make his appearance during the season 6 finale.

Today, released an article with a rumor that the role of Negan has been cast.  Since that initial posting, there has been some pretty convincing evidence that supports their theory.

Here is what they Pajiba had to say:

"“Nothing has been announced by AMC, and all of this is based on rumors, but there’s enough evidence piling up to make a fairly educated guess as to who might be cast as Negan on The Walking Dead.”"

The went on to name their suspected actor as Deadwood’s Garret Dillahunt.

And why does his casting make sense?  Let’s take a look at some of the evidence.  First, Dillahunt got his hands on The Walking Dead Compendium #3.  If you look on the cover, you’ll see Negan posed on the cover with his prized weapon, Lucille.  This collection includes the introduction of the character and could be excellent research material.

Next, the former Deadwood star was followed by the official The Walking Dead account on Twitter.

And finally, Dillahunt responding to a fan on Twitter with a cheeky reply regarding a barb-wire covered baseball bat.

While none of this is conclusive evidence that Garret Dillahunt will be Negan on AMC’s The Walking Dead, this is the closest that we at Undead Walking have seen to a logical connection to the role.  Personally, I haven’t seen his role on Deadwood, but I absolutely loved him in No Country For Old Men and the remake of Last House On The Left.

What do you think?  Would Garret Dillahunt be a good choice to play Negan?  Let me know in the comments below.
