The Walking Dead introduced a character named Dwight during episode 606: “Always Accountable”. But who is he and why should fans care about him?

When Daryl Dixon came across a blonde stranger in the woods travelling with two young ladies, he was tied up and held against his will. Although Daryl would eventually end up working alongside the man who was only called “D” during The Walking Dead ‘s episode, the bond wouldn’t last. “D” and his girlfriend Honey, stole Daryl’s crossbow and motorcycle.

For fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead, “D” was just a stranger. It was even possible that we’d never see or hear from him again. However, fans of the comic books saw much more that just a guy in the woods.

Fans of the comic thought that “D” was actually short for Dwight, a character in the comic books that helps introduce us to Negan and the Saviors. Dwight is more that just a character that will connect Alexandria to another community though, as his story is one that fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead should enjoy watching unfold.

This was confirmed in a recent tweet from AMC’s The Walking Dead account:

His relationship with The Saviors is a complicated one, and now he has burned his bridge with Daryl Dixon. It will be interesting to see how this major character from the comic books will transition from the inked pages to the small screen, as some of the things that happens involving him are extremely graphic, heartbreaking, and enraging.

It is currently unknown when the next time that Dwight and Honey will appear on AMC’s The Walking Dead, but I anticipate that it will be sometime after the midseason break of season 6 when he returns. People who only watch the hit AMC zombie survival drama should not forget about him, and may even have to go back and re-watch episode 606 to pick on things with Dwight and Honey that they may have missed.

The one major thing to take out of this:  Don’t forget about Dwight! As Ron Burgundy might say, he’s “kind of a big deal.
