The Walking Dead is ‘going to push AMC’ with Negan
By Adam Carlson
The Walking Dead will be pushing the boundaries of television when the character of Negan is introduced on the hit AMC zombie survival drama series.
It’s hard not to be excited about the appearance of Negan on AMC’s The Walking Dead. Comic book readers have learned to love his wit and charisma while television viewers have already gotten word of how big of a character he will be.
When Jeffrey Dean Morgan landed the role of Negan, things got even more real. And after that, we had the name Negan dropped in the post-credits scene of The Walking Dead’s midseason finale.
But there will be some very interesting challenges with Negan when it comes to adapting him to television. The character has absolutely no problem with violence and really seems to enjoy using colorful language every chance that he gets.
Recently, Jeffrey Dean Morgan spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the challenge it will present bringing Negan to life on AMC:
"“We’re going to push AMC — the plan is to push them as far as they can because it’s who Negan is. He uses some colorful language. And I use some colorful language. And reading the comic, it’s important. So we’ll see where that lands. It’s our intention that this character is going to leap off the pages of the comic book.”"
As for Negan’s partner in crime Lucille, Morgan has met the barbed-wire baseball bat and is comfortable with the deadly weapon already.
"“She is gorgeous. She is a beautiful girl,” Morgan said. “I don’t need to practice my swing. I grew up with a bat in my hands.”"
Jeffery Dean Morgan will appear as Negan during the second half of The Walking Dead’s sixth season on AMC, which is scheduled to kick off on February 14, 2016. It is a debut that fans of the series and the comic books will not want to miss.
