The first photo of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher from Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil has been released, showing the former The Walking Dead star’s character.

Fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead may know Jon Bernthal from his role as Shane Walsh, but soon they may be able to get to know him as another comic book badass.

When it was announced that he won the role of The Punisher on Netflix and Marvel’s hit show Daredevil, it was an exciting time for fans of Bernthal hoping to see something big from the talented actor. Daredevil‘s massive success has allowed the program to have a second season, and this one will feature the blind superhero meeting the unpredictable hero/villain The Punisher.

Here is the first image of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher from the official Twitter account of Entertainment Weekly:

At this time, it isn’t known what kind of relationship The Punisher will have with Daredevil or just how big of a role the character will have in the show’s second season. However, we can bet that the two characters will have a huge clash of ideals on how criminals should be dealt with.

Here is a little bit on Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) from the Entertainment Weekly website:

"“Castle is an ex-Special Forces soldier with a tragic past who becomes a New York vigilante. He has the same clean-up-the-streets mission as Matt Murdock, except he uses guns instead of beatdowns and quite simply murders every criminal he can find. Whether he’s a hero or a villain is left open to interpretation, but the first couple episodes will have many viewers supporting his techniques. “"

From the look of the first released image, Bernthal might be a great choice to play Castle. It appears as though the former The Walking Dead star has bulked up and put on a lot of muscle for this role, making his role as a tough and gritty crime fighter even more believable.

Whether you loved or hated Shane Walsh, Jon Bernthal consistently made The Walking Dead a better show every single time he was on the screen. Hopefully, he can accomplish the same thing with Daredevil‘s second season on Netflix, which currently does not have a date for release.
