The Walking Dead shut out at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards
By Adam Carlson
The popular zombie survival drama The Walking Dead was nominated for honors at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards, but was not able to win any categories.
AMC’s The Walking Dead struggles to find acceptance by critics at award shows, but now it seems as though their fandom has let them down a bit in the award shows based on popularity contests.
The zombie survival drama was nominated for “Favorite TV Show” and “Favorite Cable TV Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show” at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards, but didn’t manage to bring home a trophy for either category.
The Walking Dead was beaten out by a couple of very popular programs in their nomination losses, falling to the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory and the Starz drama Outlander. This marks the second year in a row that AMC’s flagship series was nominated in those two categories and were defeated by the exact same programs.

To compound the problems that zombies are having with award shows, the record-breaking premiere season of Fear The Walking Dead was not recognized with a single nomination at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards and no actors or actresses from either program were honored at the awards show.
However, fans of The Walking Dead have already accepted that the show isn’t going to be a massive award winner. It’s also not going to get a lot of love from critics. But neither of those will stop fans from making the hit AMC show one of the most watched shows on television with a rabid fan base that is second to none.
You can watch The Walking Dead when the show returns from their season 6 midseason break on February 14, 2016 to AMC.
