The Walking Dead: Ethan Embry’s zombie experience
By Susie Graham
Andrew Lincoln was not happy to have to take out Ethan Embry’s character so soon, but Ethan reassured Andrew that it was okay-he got the whole zombie experience while he was on the show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Andrew really liked Ethan Embry. “Ethan was the sweetest. Such a talented amazing guy, welcomed to the show, and then had to take him out again.”
Not only was he a great guy and a great actor, Lincoln thought his character did a lot for the Alexandria storyline at that point in the show. “He gave voice to the rebellion that was happening in Alexandria, and did it so well, so grounded. I really bought the fact that he was a working man, but someone who wasn’t willing to concede to this maniac Rick.”
Andrew said Ethan was happy to be part of the show that he watches with his son. He got to do all the things you’d want to do if you were on the show for a short period of time. Andrew told Entertainment Weekly about Ethan’s excitement:
“No, it’s great! I watch it with my son, man! I’m thrilled you’re taking me out! And I get bit, I get the whole zombie experience.”
There was one day on set I was like, “What are you doing?” It was his first day. We killed him on his first day, as we like to do. I think he was Skyping someone or doing FaceTime with someone, and he got all the zombies to do the “Thriller” dance behind him. He was looking at me like, “Are you kidding me? Check this out!” He was completely like a tourist sending all these links back to his son.
I’m thrilled you’re taking me out! And I get bit, I get the whole zombie experience.
Not only did he get bit, but he got bitten by one of the coolest walkers ever. Mr. Stephen Vining, who plays many of the great season 5 and 6 walkers was this fabulous old man walker who had his insides tangled up with a tree.
And his bite wasn’t just a bite, it was a bite in the face! Yowsa! Then he was killed by Rick Grimes. Rick Grimes! And Carter was part of one of the great Rick Grimes moments and lines of all time.
"“You really think you’re going to take this community from us? From Daryl? From Michonne? From Glenn? From me? Do you have any idea who you’re talking to? “"
Not bad for one episode on The Walking Dead!
