The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s company Skybound Entertainment has partnered with Night School Studio to develop properties based on Oxenfree.

Skybound Entertainment might be home to The Walking Dead, but that doesn’t mean it is the only property that Robert Kirkman’s company is focusing on. Recently, it was announced on the Skybound website that Oxenfree would be joining the company’s stable thanks to a partnership with Night School Studio.

If you’ve never heard of Oxenfree, that is okay. It’s an upcoming video game that is set to be released on January 15 on Xbox One and Windows PC, 2016. It is focused on a group of high school students who take a trip to Edwards Island to let out some teenage angst away from society and their families. However, things don’t go well for these kids, and the island starts to mess with their heads.

Skybound is set to help Night School Studio have their game reach a massive audience, but there is also a bit of a different motive for Robert Kirkman’s company. Here is the announcement from Skybound:

"“Skybound is kicking off the New Year in a big way. As soon as we got our hands on Oxenfree and experienced this unique narrative driven game we knew that the IP had huge potential and that the Skybound team needed to be a part of it. Creating multiplatform entertainment in the thriller genre is in our wheelhouse, and it’s great to partner with the passionate developers at Night School to delve deeper into the Oxenfree realm.”"

So, what does “multiplatform entertainment” mean? That might be the biggest part of the entire statement, because Oxenfree is set to become “a film, a web docuseries, merchandise, and more.” This is great news for Skybound, who recently entered the film medium with the Norman Reedus film Air.
