The Walking Dead’s creator Robert Kirkman says that Negan’s arrival on the hit AMC zombie survival drama will be like an atomic bomb dropped on the universe.

As if there isn’t enough excitement surrounding the debut of Negan and The Saviors on AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead, the idea that the major comic book character will appear during the second half of season 6 has many fans on the edge of their seat.

The Saviors are one of the most unusual groups from The Walking Dead’s comic book series. They aren’t really bad guys, but they definitely aren’t good guys. They a unique group of survivors that just have a different philosophy of what it takes to survive the zombie apocalypse.

Here is what Robert Kirkman had to say about Negan’s eventual debut on The Walking Dead according to Entertainment Weekly’s website:

"“As far as shake-ups go, we have lots of shake-ups from season to season,” says Kirkman. “It keeps things interesting — keeps the blood pumping, I like to say — but Negan is kind of an atomic bomb that’s going to be dropped on the show and the show will probably never be the same after that. So buckle up, I guess?”"

Fans that have read the comics know that Negan and The Saviors change everything as soon as they arrive on the scene. However, it was in part the unexpected nature of Negan and The Saviors that helped make them one of the most interesting groups of survivors in the comic books.

The hype surrounding Negan is severely out of hand, but that doesn’t mean that the character doesn’t have a chance to deliver. The casting of Jeffery Dean Morgan in the role was a major step in the right direction, and the introduction of the Saviors during the midseason finale of The Walking Dead’s sixth season lets fans know that they won’t have to wait much longer for him to appear on the small screen.

"“When it comes to the Saviors, and Negan in particular, the way I’ve always thought about this in the comics is this is a group that’s led by a guy who’s had his morality dial a few clicks away from Rick toward the darker aspects of his personality, but is still an intellectual and capable leader who’s kept his group alive against all odds just as long as Rick has. It’s really the best encountering the best. When these two forces come head to head, things are gonna get interesting. This is a much different group than they’ve ever encountered. The Saviors are a group they’re not really prepared for.”"
