The Walking Dead game delayed by Overkill until Q3/Q4 of 2017

Overkill’s upcoming survival horror video game based in the universe of The Walking Dead has been delayed until the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2017.
For a while, very little information was coming out about Overkill’s upcoming video game based in the world of The Walking Dead. Sadly, it appears as though there was a good reason for that.
According to WCCF Tech, the upcoming game will be delayed until the third or fourth quarter of 2017 following a partnership between developer Starbreeze and Korean publisher Smilegate that will provide $40 million in funding.
The Chairman of the Board at Starbreeze, Michael Hjorth, had this to say about the partnership:
"“What the Starbreeze team has achieved in the last few years is amazing. This partnership with Smilegate with an upfront cash injection secures our plans, opens new markets and proves yet again that we have an expansive and ambitious business plan focusing on creating long term value. This deal creates a new paradigm for independent developers in the digital market that we are excited to pioneer.”"

The delay is to ensure that the game will launch worldwide simultaneously, but it is also an opportunity for Overkill’s The Walking Dead to expand the game and provide more experiences, making it “a tent pole product for the next decade to come”.
In exchange for Smilegate’s financial contribution, Starbreeze will develop a game in the CROSSFIRE series. CROSSFIRE is one of the top grossing game in the world, earning over $1.3 billion in 2014 with a sequel that would be highly anticipated and likely another blockbuster.
While it’s disappointing that Overkill’s The Walking Dead video game will be delayed until late next year, this is an opportunity to make this game the best that it possibly can be. With the additional funding and time, things that were cut due to time or budget constraints could be included in the game to enhance the experience for gamers.

There is also the opportunity to show off their game once again at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or Gamescom and allow it to gain more momentum and exposure before launch, expanding the reach to consumers all around the world.
