They say home is where the heart is. It does not have to be a physical place.

Having watched her parents be devoured by walkers right in front of her, Enid finds herself homeless in The Walking Dead universe and quickly becomes a loner both physically and emotionally.

When Enid arrives in Alexandria she does not talk for a while. Ron speaks of her as his girlfriend, but we never really see an emotional connection between the two.

We see her scaling the wall and know that she frequently leaves Alexandria all together. She seems to bond a little more with Carl. On the day of the Wolves’ attack, he convinces her to stay and help him protect Judith. But once the baby is out of harm’s way, she leaves Carl and Alexandria with nothing more than a note saying “just survive somehow”.

When she refers to Alexandria, she never calls it by name, much less home. She refers to it as “this place”.
When Glenn asks her who she lives with, she tells him she stays at Olivia’s place but suggests no familial bond between them.

When Enid and Glenn stumble across one another in the neighboring town, she begrudgingly follows Glenn back to Alexandria where they find the community in grave danger with Maggie trapped on the watch platform,  walkers all around her.

As Glenn begins to formulate a rescue plan, Enid suggests it is not worth it. Glenn mentions his pregnant wife and this catches Enid’s attention. Glenn tells Enid that’s how you lose people even after they’re gone.

More from Undead Walking

The two end up in a church looking for weaponry and some material to hoist Maggie over the wall. It is here that Enid asks Glenn about his statement about losing people. Of course, he shares names of people who have died that still inspire him to go on. If he gives up, they are gone all over again, too. Enid realizes her parents are still part of who she is and wants to keep going and keep their memory alive as well.

Enid insists on joining Glenn on the rescue mission. And for the first time, as Enid swiftly climbs the platform to Maggie, we see that she is running TO something instead of running AWAY from something.

I think Enid is home.
