A new character called “Jesus” was introduced on AMC’s The Walking Dead last week, but where does he call home and what kind of people live there?

The Walking Dead introduced a character during episode 10 of the popular zombie survival series’ sixth season. His name was Paul, but he is called “Jesus” by his people. But who are his people? Where did he come from? And what kind of community are they?

To take a sneak peek into this, fans can take a look at The Walking Dead comic book series by Image and Skybound Entertainment. Of course, AMC’s television show doesn’t always mirror the comics, but there is at least some crossover from the pages of the series that can be used to gain insight on the future of the show.

The events of the comic books will be described below, so fans who don’t want to have that knowledge are advised to stop reading now so that they won’t have some of the upcoming stories spoiled for them in future episodes of the television series.

In the pages of the comics, Jesus is from a community called the Hilltop Colony. They have walls similar to Alexandria, but also have the protection of The Saviors. Located about 20 miles from Alexandria, the people there are sick of The Saviors leader Negan taking advantage of them and taking their resources.

In fact, when Jesus returns with Rick and other survivors from Alexandria, he finds out that the supplies that Ethan brought to The Saviors were not sufficient. Negan had killed many of the people in his group, but kept Ethan alive to return to The Hilltop and give a message to their leader, Gregory.  Of course, Negan’s message isn’t a friendly one. Gregory is stabbed by Ethan and Rick Grimes jumps into the fray, tackling Ethan and slicing his throat.

This isn’t taken well by the people of the Hilltop Colony, as Ethan was one of their people even though he did a horrible thing. Jesus steps in and explains that Rick did the right thing even though he isn’t one of their people.

Jesus also says that they need help against The Saviors, who are bleeding them dry of supplies. He thinks that Rick and the people of Alexandria are just the right people to help them out.
