The Walking Dead: Who died in Twice as far?
Episode 14 of The Walking Dead season 6 shared the journey of 2 different groups out on runs each with a very specific purpose. Who died in “Twice As Far”?
Each had a physical destination as well as an emotional one. Denise wanted to go to the apothecary and Eugene was headed to the machine shop. Both Eugene and Denise were insistent upon facing their fears.
The question is, did they survive their quests?? Let’s take a look at losses from this episode on The Walking Dead.
Mourning the Mullet?
Is this the end of Eugene’s signature mullet? I don’t think we can be certain of that, but it certainly took a backseat to a new look for Eugene in episode 14, the ponytail. Who knew that a hairstyle could be such a storytelling device?
We see the change as Eugene is trying to establish some independence from Abe’s constant protection. He is trying desperately prove his capabilities, not just with his brain but his brawn as well.
Saving “Private” Dwight?
Let’s just say that McGruff the Crime Dog has nothing on Eugene Porter! Do you recall McGruff’s slogan? Take a bite out of crime® Well, Dwight is the criminal and Eugene most certainly took a bite out of him. I’m not sure that “Private” Dwight can survive that attack?!
Eugene established his moment and in doing so saved lives. Hey, guys (especially guys), don’t ever underestimate Eugene again!
We also see that at least two of the other Saviors with Dwight did not survive this meeting. And we see them all flee across the tracks.
Doctor Denise
There is another survivor testing the bounds of their bravery in this episode. That would be Doctor Denise, twin sister of Dennis. Daryl reminds her of Dennis.
As a psychiatrist she is well versed in the power of catharsis and facing one’s fears. She did just that when she insisted on joining Rosita and Daryl on a run to an apothecary for medications.
She battled not only her demons but a nasty walker as well. And things were looking triumphant for Denise until an arrow impaled her through the eye. It is a heartbreaking scene. But Denise goes out fighting and fearless.
This is how she will be remembered. And what impact will her final words have on Daryl and Rosita? How will Tara survive this loss? Denise is gone but her story will live on in these other characters.
