Fans of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Game can start getting excited now that Season 3 of the hit game series has been announced for release in 2016.

Great news for fans of Telltale Games’ series based on The Walking Dead. Not only do they have the very enjoyable miniseries based on Michonne to enjoy in 2016, but now Season 3 of the main game is also slated for a release this year.

According to an article on Mashable.com, fans can expect a new installment in the main game series sometime in 2016, but no official date has been given yet for a release. Still, some great new information is available aboutt what to expect from the upcoming game.

Telltale Games CEO Kevin Bruner has a clear idea of what he wants to do with Season 3 of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Game. While he hopes to continue the great gameplay and storytelling style, it sounds like the game developers have a few tricks up their sleeves for gamers.

"“From a role-playing, interactive storytelling point of view, it is not from the bag of tricks that we’ve ever shown anybody before,” Bruner said. “The way that we’re dealing with and validating and retaining all those different playthroughs is really cool and unexpected and, I think, pretty innovative from the storytelling point of view.”"

Even more interesting is that Season 3 will be able to stand on its own merits, and players who haven’t experienced the previous games can enjoy the new one without going back and playing Season 1 or Season 2.

"“It allows people who maybe haven’t people who maybe haven’t played [the first two seasons] to come in and get up to speed really quickly. But it definitely respects, honors and facilitates all of the various end points that Season 2 had.”"

However, fans who have played the first two seasons of The Walking Dead: A Telltale Game will be in for a real treat, as the game expects to get the data from their previous games by using cloud services.

"“We’ve got a strategy to help Season 3 players … collect all their data from the previous games. [W]e didn’t have the cloud services in Season 1 that we have now,” Bruner said. “So we’re going to have a solution for everybody that we’re not talking about it yet.”"
