Fear the Walking Dead: EP hints at exciting events this week
By Susie Graham
Civilization is ending fast on Fear the Walking Dead. Things are moving quickly for our survivors as well. More excitement and mystery is ahead.
Last week we met Alex and Jake, who survived the plane crash only to be cut loose at sea by Victor Strand in a statement to his passengers to reiterate his rules of the boat. They keep forgetting the rules and trying to bring aboard more guests that Strand did not invite.
The kids and Daniel faced a mini herd on the island as they were scavenging for clothes and medicine in the suitcases near the wreckage of the crash. They all experienced the fear and adrenaline of facing the thing that is forcing them to run from their homes and their lives.
Episode 4 marks a sort of midway point to the midseason finale. According to Executive Producer Dave Erickson, we’re in for some excitement and some twists. (Via Entertainment Weekly)
"Next week we’re the tension on the boat is heightened now because of what Strand just did. Madison and Travis are desperately trying to figure out what’s the best play, and just as they’re about to make that decision, they’re interrupted by something tragic, and horrible, and violent. So there’s going to be a big shift next episode, which is going to redirect everyone’s attention. It’s going to be good."
Strand has been a mystery since the beginning. At some point the group will have to decide how much need him as opposed to how much they distrust him. They have tough questions to ask themselves.
Do they need to act like polite passengers in order to make it to someplace safe on land where they can part ways? Do they plan on staying on water forever and getting to know him? How much does what he’s hiding affect them? Can they start working together?
Next: Teenagers in the apocalypse
As an audience we know that the apocalypse will form new families from strangers and new group dynamics. New enemies will appear, infected, natural and human. There is much more to the next world than just running. It’s only just begun.
