Fear The Walking Dead: Who died in Blood in the Streets?
Ahoy, mateys! It was a rough day on the sea for Fear The Walking Dead’s fourth episode of season 2. ‘Blood in the Streets” had us wondering who would take the fall when the call came to “blow the man down”.
With modern day pirates overtaking the Abigail, there were many lives at risk. Nick was on a risky mission of his own. And Strand makes a quick decision to jump ship that leaves him shivering. So it is now time to look at who failed to survive the episode.
Close calls
As you would imagine for any zombie apocalypse, there were several close calls in tonight’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead.
Nick: We begin with Nick swimming to shore in the dark of night with nary a stitch of clothing covering his body. That has to be cold! He pulls clothing from his plastic travel bag and proceeds to a makeshift community of abandoned tents.
He cleverly entraps a walker so he can camouflage himself in the infected’s blood. Might I add that he seems to enjoy the act of impersonating a walker? He makes his way to an address specified by Strand.
Meanwhile, back at sea, three “strangers” approach the Abigail pleading for help for a pregnant woman. I use the term “strangers” loosely as this is the group tha Alicia spoke to on the radio, unknowingly giving them details about their location.
The “strangers” are modern day pirates who take our survivors hostage and demand that the boat be started. No one knows where Nick is and Strand has jumped ship in a lifeboat of sorts.
Strand: Victor has a very close call when the pirate named Reed shoots at him. We’re not sure if he’s hit but the lifeboat is compromised and he definitely ends up in the water almost freezing to death.
Madison: The pregnant lady who feigned distress smashes Madison’s head into a mirror knocking her out briefly. Madison comes to eventually and begins to use her wits to begin distracting the pregnant lady with negative talk about her pregnancy.
Chris: The teen faces a call that is way too close for comfort when Reed presses his gun to Chris’s forehead demanding the keys for the boat. Reed finally believes them when they claim that Strand has the keys and that he is the one Reed fired upon. Travis agrees to hot wire the boat.
Nick: Our recovering addict is almost shot when Strand’s friend Luis arrives home to see a bloody Nick on his doorstep. Nick swiftly explains that he was sent by Strand. Instead of receiving a bullet, Nick receives yet another new set of clothes, this time, Johnny Cash style, all in black. The two jump on a Zodiac and head for the Abigail.
Meanwhile, we learn that a man named Connor is actually the leader of the three pirates aboard the boat. Connor, along with two other minions, arrive at the vessel and assess the hostage situation. One minion has striking red hair, the other shows signs of balding. (I will henceforth refer to them as “Red Hair” and “Balding”).
Connor states that he is taking Travis and Alicia back to their base along with Jack and the pregnant lady. The party of five exits, leaving Reed, Red Hair, and Balding behind to guard the other hostages. But only one of those three pirates will survive the episode.
Two pirates down
The pirates do not expect the Zodiac charging toward the boat. They aim for it, but are fired upon by Luis who takes out Red Hair and Balding. Reed is not hit, but our hostages have slowly unraveled enough of their binding to take advantage of the distraction. Reed ends up with a stake through his stomach and the tables are turned.
Nick and Luis board the Abigail. Madison insists on taking the Zodiac to go after Travis and Alicia. On the way, she encounters a frosty Strand in the water. She pulls him aboard the Zodiac and the episode comes to a close.

Final count: 2
With Nick’s walker kill not really counting, we lost two people in ‘Blood in the Streets’. Thankfully, for our survivors, it was two of the “bad guys”, Red Hair and Balding.
Our survivors appear to have the upper hand again on the Abigail, but things never stay safe for too long in this world. And we are unaware of the dangers that Madison and Strand may encounter in trying to rescue Travis and Alicia. I suspect there will be more intrigue and danger to come in next week’s episode. Until then . . .
